Why would I need a psychological evaluation for my immigration case?

There are several reasons why a psychological evaluation would be helpful – or sometimes even required – in order to move forward with immigration proceedings. While completing a psychological evaluation does not guarantee success, these assessments can help a court determine whether an individual and/or their family can lawfully remain in the U.S.

These types of reports must address specific criteria, and only a professional experienced in immigration-related assessments can deliver this. If your attorney has recommended getting a psychological evaluation, you're in the right place. Dr. Vasquez works collaboratively with immigration attorneys to best serve their clients’ needs.

What does a psychological evaluation look like?

Typically, an evaluation consists of a one-on-one clinical interview followed by a number of psychological instruments to assess your current symptoms. Results from the instruments are then scored and interpreted, and they are integrated into the narrative gathered from the interview and any other collateral information received.  A report is then drafted and sent confidentially to you or to the attorney handling your case.
